ABOUT OAKLEY BATTLE CLIPS
A national surf clip competition designed to elevate the best young talent in Australian surfing and reward the unsung heroes behind the lens.
This four round competition will be the first man-on-man clip competition in Australian surfing, culminating into a surf trip to Hawaii for the top four finalists where you’ll star in the Oakley Battle Clips feature film.
The surfer with the best film part will walk away with whopping $20k cash and $5k in Nikon camera gear for their filmer.
The competing Surfer needs to be an Australian Citizen and 29 years of age or under to to compete in this competition. Filmers can be any age, but they too must be an Australian Citizen.
1st to 30th September
The competition will begin on the 1st of September with a national qualification round where surfers submit their best one-minute edit. The top 16 surfers qualify and progress to the next stage of competition.
Qualification entries must be lodged by midnight (EDST) on the 30th September, 2017.
21st October to 3rd November
From here the competition splits off into a series of man versus man, manoeuvre specific battles. Surfers will be matched up against another surfer based on a seeding from the Qualification round where they will compete clip v clip, trick v trick.

- Round 2 “Barrel”
- Round 3 “Turn”
10th to 23rd November
The eight surfers to win their man-on-man matchups, will progress to the semi-final where the format will change to an all-in, 8-man heat. Each man will compete for the “Best Ride”. Anything from heaving barrels to futuristic combinations. The top four move into the final.
Final (Best Film Part):
5th to 19th December
The final four will be whisked away to Hawaii by Oakley and the mySURF.tv crew where they will take part in the making of a surf film. Each surfer will get his/her own 2-3-minute film part. The best film part as determined by an expert panel of judges and the collective social media opinion will be crowned the winner.
Surfer receives $20,000 AUD cash
The winning surfer’s filmer receives $5,000 Nikon Product
2nd, 3rd, 4th Place:
Receive a trip to Hawaii and 2-3-minute film part (Flights, Accomm, Insurance)
The winning surfer receives:
1) $20,000 AUD cash
2) A trip to Hawaii (includes Flights, Accommodation, Transport, Meals and Insurance)
3) A 2-3-minute part in a feature film
The winning filmer receives:
4) $5,000 AUD of Nikon Product
2nd, 3rd, 4th Place
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed surfers receive:
1) A trip to Hawaii (includes Flights, Accommodation, Transport, Meals and Insurance)
2) A 2-3-minute part in the Oakley Battle Clips feature film
HOW TO ENTER OAKLEY BATTLE CLIPS
Complete competition registration form available here and download the Oakley Battle Clips ‘entry pack’ consisting of music and Oakley Battle Clips bumpers. It is mandatory that all entries use only the music provided. This music has been purchased by the Promoter and is officially cleared for digital use. Use of this music by Entrants for the purposes of this competition is free of charge.
Upload your 1 min video clip complete with Oakley Battle Clips bumpers and cleared music to your personal Instagram page to complete your entry into the qualification round. All entries must tag the below:

Top 16 qualifiers will advance to the next round – Man-on-Man Battles. You will be contacted directly by mySURF and will be required to provide the following additional clips over email:
1 clip of your ‘Best Air’
1 clip of your ‘Best Barrel’
1 clip of your ‘Best Turn’
mySURF will edit this footage into side-by-side battle format footage and supply it to you to post on your personal Instagram and share on Facebook.
Top 8 surfers will advance to the Semi-Finals. You will be contacted by mySURF and will be required to provide one clip of your ‘Best Ride’ (think futuristic combinations, big waves, long rides).
Top 4 surfers will progress to the Final. You will be flown to Hawaii to film the Oakley Battle Clips surf film in which you will have a 2-3min part which will be judged. The finalists will be notified by 22nd November and will be required to travel to Hawaii from the 5th to 19th December 2016.
The Oakley Battle Clips film will premiere at a special screening in Newcastle at the Nudie Australian Board Rider’s Battle final on February 17th 2017 where the overall winner will be announced!

ROUND 3: SEMI-FINAL (TOP 8)
1 x ‘Best Ride’ video clip which can consist of anything from heaving barrels to progressive combinations
ROUND 4: FINAL (TOP 4)
1 x 2-3 min ‘Battle Clips Film part’ to be filmed in Hawaii
